First picture of Thailand

Alright, so we have been here a few days. Last night we went to the train station to get our tickets to Chiang Mai for cooking classes, then wandered around to find some dinner. We...or i decided to stop at one of the many street restaurant carts. Of course, the spoke no english so we had to just point and pray...apparently we had some steamed rice, a cold squid salad, some kind of sweet and sour hot dog, fried fish, and a mysterious meat that was really spicy but good...of course half way through we found a hand in it...yup, a hand, apparently it was a quite tasty, very spicy, minced FROG...yum! Welcome to Thailand.

Below are a few pictures: the standing Buddha, Lucky Buddha, and some sort of Snake god... I think.

Last Australia pictures

Ok, so these are the last pictures from Australia, along with a clip from a disturbing documentary. Mostly the Blue mountains and scenes from our walk from Coogee Beach to Bondi Beach. Enjoy.

yeah it was that cold!
And now for the celebratory beers...really big beers!

Thailand

Ok, we have arrived in Thailand. Australia was was fun, though a lot more expensive and colder than previously imagined. I will be posting the last pictures of the Blue Mountains and a few more things later. Thailand is nice, we got here at about 1:30 Monday morning, we have had too many Pad Thais and while they are good, we believe ours are better. We saw the Golden Standing Buddha, The Golden Mount Temple, and a few other temples and Buddhas and more to come. Going to try and see the Grand Palace tomorrow morning, and in one or two days travel up to Chiang Mai for our first cooking courses.

Pictures of Australian Animals

Pictures of some of the animals from Wildlife world, the last one is a Wombat who wouldn't stop moving.
Yesterday, the 22 of September, we went to Bondi Beach, about an hour away, wasn't super impressed. The beach was pretty nice and definitely a whole lot bigger than  back home. Sebastian Skated in a few parks, and we saw one of the deepest skating bowls ever.
On a food note... we had some Lebanese Doner Kebads, and they are really freaking awesome! We have to make these in Puerto Rico, it would destroy Las Mixtas.

We have arrived!

After what it feels like a thousand hour plain ride, we are finally here in Australia. It is currently 10:50 am Friday 18, September 2009. Where the hell did Thursday go? We have booked into the Maze hostel here in Sydney, right near Chinatown. Still getting used to the new surroundings and the money, or lack there of. Soon we will head off to the Aquarium, Sydney Wildlife World, and anything else we might find on the way.
If anyone is trying to call me please stop, I have no signal and I can't even check my messages from a different phone. Anyone can call Sebastian for the normal rate I think. Wish us luck, I will try to post again soon.

Welcome

In less then six days my brother and I will be heading off to Australia and Thailand, partially to enjoy the wonders of travel and partially to broaden our knowledge of Thai cuisine. This blog will serve to document our journey, as we wander aimlessly through the streets of Sydney and meander the vast network of food and adventure that is Thailand.
Within you will read stories of travels, misadventures, and hopefully a tasty recipe or two. The expedition begins Sept 16,2009. Arriving in Sydney, Australia at 6:00am, from there only the vaguest of plans. No place to stay, relatively no money, an urge to see it all and probably some killer jet lag. The adventure begins.
